New Years Eve

I went snorkeling and spear fishing in the gulf. I finally shot my first fish; actually I got two of them that day.

No more work this year.

This was my last day of work for the year. As I was leaving my all day shift I looked out over the water of the Gulf of Exmouth and there were some impressive cumulonimbus clouds. It is not a sight I have seen here too often. It was just too cool. We even got some rain in town.

My White Christmas

Since it is summer here, the chances of a white Christmas were slim to none. The temperature on Christmas reached about 102F. So I decided to find the best white Christmas and Boxing Day I could. I did what the locals like to do, go to the beach. I went snorkeling at Sandy Bay and saw three sting rays and the usual reef fishes. Afterwards, I just relaxed on the beach with my tree. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

Shooting Star

I saw a shooting star tonight. This is the first one I've seen in I don't know how long. I may not have ever seen one until tonight??? I did make a wish but I am not going to say what it was in hopes that it will come true.

Poker

Most of you know I like to play poker. Sometimes I like playing it too much, like when I play at the casinos and lose my money in a few minutes. Damn those pocket kings! Anyway, here at Learmonth we have a semi-regular game of poker with a floating trophy and bragging rights. It just so happens that I won it a week or so ago.

It felt real good to win obviously; but not as much as winning at the Holloman Observatory regular game. I played when I was TDY there for training. Their trophy isn't as nice as this one but the victory was still sweet!

Pebble Beach

I went with some friends to the beach the other day to go spear fishing. I did not shoot a one. Most of the fish I saw were too small to keep, so no point shooting them. I'll get one eventually.
